Baltikums Draudimas might be sold
The Latvian financial group Baltikums may sell Baltikums Draudimas, a Lithuanian non-life insurance company, to a strategic investor.
"The shareholders have decided to seek a strategic investor," Albertas Dvarzeckis, CEO of Baltikums Draudimas, said.
"It is possible that a majority stake in Baltikums Draudimas will remain in the hands of the current owners, but selling the shares to a strategic investor, while retaining a blocking stake of 25 percent, is being considered as an option as well," he said.
Dvarzeckis added that Baltikums expects to find a strategic investor for the fast-growing Lithuanian insurance company in the first quarter of 2005.
Baltikums Draudimas has an authorized capital of LTL 9.606 million. The Latvian financial group holds around 98 percent of the stock.
